I will study natural equations coupling Kahler metrics on a complex manifold and connections on a vector bundle. These equations generalize the conditions of constant scalar curvature for a Kahler metric and Hermite-Yang-Mills for a connection. I will provide a geometric interpretation of the equations and will explain its eventual relation with the algebro-geometric moduli problem for pairs formed by a polarized variety and a vector bundle.
